چکیده

Abstract The evaporation and combustion characteristics of a kerosene spray injected perpendicularly into cross-flow high-temperature vitiated air is investigated. This fundamental flow configuration has wider implications for the future development ultra-low emission aeronautical combustors, particularly with respect to technologies involving MILD combustion. Large eddy simulations Eulerian–Lagrangian framework are performed investigate evolution reaction zone range conditions. For closure turbulence-chemistry interactions at sub-grid scales, transported probability density function approach solved by Eulerian stochastic fields method applied. Then, ambient pressure global flame behaviour examined. this part study, no atomising included simulation separate effects from interaction jet. Large-eddy simulation of kerosene spray combustion in a model scramjet chamber

Large-eddy simulation (LES) of kerosene spray combustion in a model supersonic combustor with cavity flame holder is carried out. Kerosene is injected through the ceiling of the cavity. The subgrid-scale (SGS) turbulence stress tensor is closed via the Smagorinsky’s eddyviscosity model, chemical source terms are modelled by a finite rate chemistry (FRC) model, and a four-step reduced kerosene c...

Large-Eddy Simulation of a Turbulent Lifted Flame in a Vitiated Co-Flow

Large-eddy simulation (LES) of a lifted flame in a vitiated co-flow has been performed using an unsteady flamelet/progress variable (UFPV) model. This model is an extension to the steady flamelet/progress variable approach, and describes the transient autoignition process of the lifted flame through the unsteady flamelet model. The particular advantage of this model is that it eliminates the fl...

Towards Petascale Large Eddy Simulation of Reacting Flow

A novel computational methodology, termed “Irregularly Portioned Lagrangian Monte Carlo-Finite Difference” (IPLMCFD) is developed for large eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent flows. This methodology is intended for use in the filtered density function (FDF) formulation and is particularly suitable for simulation of chemically reacting flows on massively parallel platforms. The IPLMCFD facilitat...

Large-Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Reacting Flows

Numerical simulations of combustion in aircraft engines is quite complex, as it requires an adequate description of liquid fuel injection, liquid fuel atomization, drop breakup, drop dynamics, and evaporation, large-scale turbulent fuel air mixing, small scale molecular fuel air mixing, chemical reactions, and turbulence/chemistry interactions. In the present paper, we have identified three of ...
